Rowland revealed in an interview last fall that she and Weatherspoon had been contemplating having another child for a while, but didn’t commit to family planning until quarantine began.

"We had been talking about it loosely, and then COVID happened, and we were just like, ‘Let’s see what happens,’" the Destiny’s Child star told Women’s Health magazine. She added that she got pregnant quickly after she started trying for a second child.

Despite her gratitude, the singer told the outlet that she was hesitant to disclose her pregnancy amid the pandemicracial injusticepolitical unrest and a tumultuous year for many.

Selena Gomez celebrated the premiere of her new single Baila Conmigo with a lively dance party at home with a few of her closet pals on Thursday night.

As evidenced by the 28-year-old singer's Instagram Story, she had the time of her life busting a move with a female pal, who sported matching 'Brooklyn' sweatpants.

After working up an appetite with their perfectly synced-up choreography, the pop star and friends flocked to the kitchen for a custom-made cake, which featured the name of her track and a salsa dancer in a red dress on the top.

Despite the sweet treat's stunning design with pink and orange fondant and glitter, the former Disney Channel star couldn't resist destroying the masterpiece.

As she sat criss-cross applesauce on her kitchen's marble countertop, she could be seen swaying to her new Spanish-language hit with her hands covered in frosting.

While her friends laughed, she continued to slap and punch the cake with her fists as someone in the background marveled that the baked good was 'so resilient.'

'Celebrating! Yes... we still ate it,' the Rare Beauty founder captioned the footage, which showed her licking her fingers and wearing grey fuzzy socks with white pom poms.

Throughout the night, she snapped photos with her friends, while rocking little to no makeup and her dark tresses in a messy bun.

On Friday, she also unloaded a few behind-the-scenes pics from the sultry music video shoot onto the official Rare Beauty Instagram page.

For her music video, Gomez enhanced her already sculpted features with makeup from her popular makeup line.

Selena relied on the talents of Melissa Murdick to bring her to life on screen with a generous amount of facial highlighter to create a natural, radiant complexion.

Giving fans exactly what they want, Rare Beauty included all of the products that Selena used in order to accurately achieve her Baila Conmigo look.

Apocalyptic movies shot during pandemic hit Sundance - Yahoo News Australia

A virus horror and a last-day-on-Earth comedy -- both entirely devised, shot and edited during the pandemic -- brought an apocalyptic flavor Friday to the Sundance film festival, which has moved online due to Covid.

Speaking after "virtual" world premieres at the influential US indie event, the films' creators described how they funneled their boredom and anxiety into creativity by quickly finding ways to safely film during long lockdowns.

"I had a slightly hysterical episode about one week into the lockdown... I needed to calm down and part of the calming down was to try and write," recalled "In The Earth" director Ben Wheatley.

The first new production to film in the UK after its initial March lockdown, the horror is set in a remote English forest where scientists are conducting mysterious experiments while a virus sweeps through the cities.

"It was a weird amount of pressure on us... all the protocols were brand new at that point," said Wheatley.

While Covid-19 does not provide the main plot of the movie, it serves as an essential backdrop to the film's events.

Wheatley told an online Q&A that the introduction of social distancing and lockdown had made even newly finished films look like they were "from another age."

"You'd sit there and watch a movie and it has these massive crowd scenes in, or all their concerns were concerns of two years ago," he said.

"I think that horror films especially, but movies in general, should reflect the moment that you're in."

Meanwhile, comedy "How It Ends" imagines Los Angeles on the day an asteroid is due to wipe out the planet.

Liza (played by co-director Zoe Lister-Jones) sets out on foot to confront those who have wronged her -- and make a few last-minute apologies of her own -- all en route to a wild, end-of-days party.

Conceived in the early weeks of California's lockdown and shot in summer, the movie also takes place almost entirely outdoors -- on the city's permanently sunny streets, gardens and pool decks.

- 'Home movie' -

The filmmakers raced to finish and release the film "while we are all still struggling with some of this emotional minefield," said Lister-Jones, describing the process as therapeutic during "a very bleak time."

Helen Hunt, Bradley Whitford and Olivia Wilde are among the famous faces who pop up for socially-distanced conversations with Zoe during her "existential scavenger hunt" -- many shot outside the A-listers' real-life homes.

"Normally when someone comes over with two cameras and a sound guy and an actor, I'm like 'I'm excited to be in your home movie,'" joked Charlie Day, who appears with his wife Mary Elizabeth Ellis.

"It was super quick -- I got a call one day saying 'hey, we're going to show up at your house tomorrow'... I didn't really know what I was getting myself into," added Lamorne Morris.

Friday also saw the Sundance premiere of "The Pink Cloud," in which two strangers are forced to cohabit indefinitely when a toxic cloud spreads across the planet midway through their one-night-stand, making the outside air deadly.

However, the eerily prescient Brazilian sci-fi was written and shot a year before Covid-19.

Top US indie film festival Sundance, co-founded by Robert Redford, typically takes place each winter in the Utah mountains, where multi-million-dollar deals are struck for many of the year's most coveted arthouse hits.

Due to the pandemic, all of this year's 72 feature films are making their premieres via online streaming, with the shortened festival running through to February 3.

DJ and producer SOPHIE has died, aged 34 – the music world pays tribute - NME

Scottish DJ and producer SOPHIE has died following a sudden accident this morning (January 30).

An official statement from the artist’s team has confirmed the news to NME. SOPHIE was 34.

“It is with profound sadness that I have to inform you that musician and producer SOPHIE passed away this morning around 4am in Athens, where the artist had been living, following a sudden accident,” the statement reads.

“At this time respect and privacy for the family is our priority. We would also ask for respect for her fanbase, and to treat the private nature of this news with sensitivity.”

“SOPHIE was a pioneer of a new sound, one of the most influential artists in the last decade. Not only for ingenious production and creativity but also for the message and visibility that was achieved. An icon of liberation.”

In a separate statement, SOPHIE’s family revealed the cause of her death, writing: “Tragically our beautiful SOPHIE passed away this morning after a terrible accident. True to her spirituality she had climbed up to watch the full moon and accidentally slipped and fell. She will always be here with us.

“The family thank everyone for their love and support and request privacy at this devastating time.”

Tributes are being shared online in the wake of SOPHIE’s death. “Sophie was a stellar producer, a visionary, a reference,” Christine and the Queens tweeted in tribute.

“She rebelled against the narrow, normative society by being an absolute triumph, both as an artist and as a woman. I can’t believe she is gone.

“We need to honor and respect her memory and legacy. Cherish the pioneers.”

Sam Smith added: “The world has lost an angel. A true visionary and icon of our generation. Your light will continue to inspire so many for generations to come. Thinking of Sophie’s family and friends at this hard time.”

Activist Munroe Bergdorf also paid tribute to SOPHIE, writing: “Our community has lost an icon, a pioneer and a visionary bright light. Heartbroken. SOPHIE you will be missed.

“Thank you for sharing your talent with us. I hope we get to meet again one day. Rest in peace sister.”

Shygirl, who shared her new SOPHIE-produced track ‘SLIME’ last October, added: “tell people you love them when you can.”

Berlin-based label PAN also paid tribute, writing: “Rest in Power you incredible human,” while Mogwai guitarist Stuart Braithwaite hailed SOPHIE as a “huge talent” and that the death was “dreadfully sad news”.

“Thank you for the creations you left us with in this world,” Kelly Lee Owens added. See a number of tributes to SOPHIE below.

Born in Glasgow, SOPHIE released a number of singles and projects on labels such as Numbers across the 2010s. The artist’s debut album ‘OIL OF EVERY PEARL’S UN-INSIDES’ was released via Transgressive back in 2018, and subsequently nominated for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2019 Grammys.

SOPHIE was also a prominent part of the PC Music label, and has worked on music with Madonna, Lady Gaga, Charli XCX, Vince Staples, Kim Petras, Arca and many more.

Last summer, SOPHIE debuted new music at a livestreamed show, contributed to the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack and launched a new project called Analemma with Juliana Huxtable.
