Taking a page out of a book of things Ted Lasso would do, on Tuesday Apple released a trailer for the second season of Ted Lasso, and also announced its shockingly close release date: July 23.
If you’ve watched Ted Lasso, you would know that Ted Lasso is mostly a very nice man, trying to do nice things for a football team that isn’t always nice to him. With this trailer/release date double whammy, it seems like a nice surprise for people who love Ted Lasso, and people who have not yet learned that they would love Ted Lasso. Sometimes life imitates art.
The trailer doesn’t tell us much about what to expect. Much like in the show’s first season, it seems like the team at AFC Richmond is still a plucky underdog just as likely to lose games as it is to win them. It does, however, seem like Ted Lasso will have to win over new people who are not as susceptible to his usual ways of endearing himself to colleagues — like a sports psychologist completely uninterested in his homemade cookies.
And hey, if you haven’t seen Ted Lasso, there’s plenty of time to catch up on one of our favorite shows from last year about an (American) football coach getting the ludicrous and unlikely job of coaching an (English) football club. It’s like Mortal Kombat, but with baking cookies for your opponents instead of fighting them.
Ted Lasso has also been renewed for a third season, and you can currently stream its 10-episode first season on Apple TV Plus.
