Despite Valheim's mythical and grim world, there are a handful of food recipes from the game that could translate well to real-life cooking. These virtual recipes play an important part in the game's mechanics, restoring health and stamina for the player's Viking character. Having a good deal of both is a wise move for any Valheim player, as there are a significant amount of challenging enemies to face often.
While some available meals might be repulsive to look at, there are a few that can easily be brought to real life. While these may not be the best meals in Valheim for raising statistics, they do have the most appetizing appearance or are made from solid ingredients.
Bread
While Bread is one of the more simple food items in the game, there is a beauty in that simplicity. Created from Bread Dough that has been baked in Valheim's Stone Oven, Bread is a powerful meal for players looking to build up their stamina. Bread increases health by just 23 points, but stamina by 70 points. Bread is a staple food that stands as an important part of many cultures' diets, and Valheim asks for an approximation of ingredients that would actually create the meal in real life: 10 Barley Flour to make 2 Bread Dough.
Fish Wraps
Another meal that asks for realistic ingredients is Fish Wraps. Made by combining two Cooked Fish and four Barley Flour, Fish Wraps have the look of a traditional wrap that has been lightly toasted and filled with greens and fish. Fish Wraps in Valheim up a player's health bar by 70 points and their stamina by 23. Making this recipe in real life should require more ingredients, but to match the look of this pixilated creation, lettuce is all that needs to be included. Either way, fishing is required for those looking to make this recipe from Valheim.
Lox Meat Pie
One of the more traditional-looking meals in Valheim, Lox Meat Pie looks like something players could make at home. This pie takes an intense list of ingredients, requiring four Barley Flour, two Cloudberries, and two Lox Meat to craft. After these ingredients have been combined at a level 4 Cauldron in Valheim, players need to bake it in a Stone Oven. While these ingredients include things that don't exist in real life, meat pies are a common food item using ground beef, pork, potatoes, chopped onion, and herbs in place of the Cloudberries.
Cooked Deer Meat
While not one of the more complex meals in Valheim, Cooked Deer Meat is one of the best looking "cooked" meats in the game. Styled to look like a rack of ribs, players need only kill a deer and place its meat on a cooking station that is over a fire. The resulting creation doesn't boast too much health (35 points) or stamina (12 points), but it does have the benefit of looking quite appetizing for the player's Viking. The real-life variant doesn't need to change much, as venison can be purchased legally and cooked at home.
EyeScream
For dessert, players may look at the recently added EyeScream as an appetizing option. Though the ingredients aren't exactly the most appetizing (three Greydwarf eyes and a Freeze Gland), the resulting creation looks like little more than glowing ice cream. Replacing those ingredients with food coloring and soft serve vanilla ice cream would result in a stylized dessert.
Valheim is available now for PC, and releases in early 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
